Juicing Vs. Blending | Which is Best?

juicing vs blending

A question I asked myself for the longest time! Then I dove into some research (and started paying attention to my body) and found what was best for me.

There are pros and cons to both juicing and blending––it all depends on what is best for your body and lifestyle. Let's compare...

  • Absorbed and digested quicker than blending
  • Better for sensitive digestive systems
  • Great for hydration
  • Can pack more vitamins and nutrients into one, smaller serving
  • Provides an energy boost
  • More expensive than blending
  • Can cause blood sugar spikes if too much fruit is used
  • Not a meal replacement

  • Consists of the whole fruit/vegetable which adds dietary fiber
  • Slower absorption of nutrients than juicing
  • Can be used as a meal replacement
  • Typically cheaper than juicing
  • Less clean-up than juicing
  • Harder to digest
  • Heat of blender can cause loss of nutrients

I'm a juice girl, myself!

A big reason I choose juicing is for the digestive purposes.  Having ulcerative colitis means I need to be careful with food and drink that is harder on the digestive system.

While I do see pros and cons to both, I personally enjoy the lighter consistency of juice. I don't like drinking something and quickly feeling heavy and full. Smoothies and blended drinks always made me feel bloated and usually had me sprinting to the bathroom before I could even finish them!

Juicing gives me more of a morning pick-me-up and makes me feel ready to take on the day! I'm not a morning person...so this is a huge plus!

A lot of people say they don't juice because of the clean-up. I agree it sucks. But personally, the feeling juicing provides over blending makes it worth it for me. So I always just plan for clean up and it's quickly become part of my routine.

Overall, my advice when choosing to juice or blend, do what is best for YOU! Listen to your body and see how it reacts to both.
